God Rested, and He's God. Who Are You?

You, with your 4am alarm and your 'I'll sleep when I'm dead' caption, are not impressive. You are tired. Your refusal to rest is not discipline. It's pride.

Let me start a fight.

You, with your 4am alarm and your "I'll sleep when I'm dead" caption, are not impressive. You are tired. And you have dressed your exhaustion up as a virtue so you don't have to admit it's quietly killing you.

We have built an entire religion around the grind. The hustle. The no-days-off badge. We post about it like it's holy. And here is the irony that should stop you cold; the actual holy book you half-quote at weddings opens with the most productive being in all of existence taking a day off.

"By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested." (Genesis 2:2)

Read that again. God. Rested. Not because He was tired; He doesn't get tired. He rested to make a point. He built rest into the design before sin ever entered the picture, before there was a single thing wrong with the world. Rest is not the cure for a broken world. Rest was part of the perfect one.

Then He went further and made it a command. Not a suggestion, not a wellness tip, an actual commandment sitting on the same list as "do not murder." "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy." (Exodus 20:8) We will clutch our pearls about the other nine and treat this one like it's optional, like it's for people who aren't serious about their dreams.

So let me ask you plainly. Who do you think you are?

You are out here grinding seven days a week like the universe will collapse without your input, while the One who actually holds the universe together scheduled a nap. Your refusal to rest is not discipline. It's pride. It's you quietly believing that you are more essential than God, and that if you stop for one day the whole thing falls apart.

It won't. And if it does, you didn't build a business; you built a trap and locked yourself inside it.

Jesus said it cleanest. "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath." (Mark 2:27) Rest was made for you. A gift. And you are out here returning the gift unopened because some motivational page told you sleep is for the weak.

Here's the part nobody on your feed will say. Most of you can't rest because the moment you stop moving, the admin avalanche begins. The unsent invoices, the books you haven't touched, the compliance you're avoiding. You don't rest because resting feels like drowning. The work doesn't stop; it just waits for you, growling.

That's not a character flaw. That's a systems flaw. Rest is only possible when the work isn't waiting to ambush you.

Do your best six days. Then rest like you actually believe God can run things without you for one. He can. He's been doing it a while.

Useful? Now score the brand behind the business.
